At @kilchomandistillery they grow and malt their own barley, something only a handful of distilleries in Scotland still do on-site. I followed their whisky from barley in the fields, to casks maturing in warehouses, all the way to a bar in Hamburg, Germany. Whisky might be Scotland’s biggest export, but to me it’s more than that
