Recent rains eased Iowa’s drought, but the latest Iowa Drought Monitor map released April 23 shows a few pockets of drought conditions in the state.

Drought conditions in Ohio continue to worsen as the state weathers a dry end to summer, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor. Only 4% of the Buckeye State is currently free of drought or dry conditions, according to a drought map released on Sept.

Statewide, most of North Carolina is categorized by US Drought Monitor as being in severe drought (57 percent of the total land) while 38 percent is extreme drought. Only a handful of counties in the northeastern part of the state are still at moderate drought levels (4.5 percent).
